Yesterday, a dear friend shared this link with me in an email. I share it with you all here on XYLOVOX beccause I believe we are headed for an election very much like the one they had in Belarus.
Belarus is an independent European country in the Baltic region south of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. It has only been a country that rules itself since 1991. It is just about 30 years old. (Which is actually quite young!)
You see, their current President was voted out but won't leave. There have been many elections since then where his victories were questioned. The people began to wonder if their votes were counted property. They want their voices to be heard. They raise them in song and solidarity!
Since the disputed 2020 presidential election in Belarus, Lukashenko is no longer recognized as the legitimate president of the country. Mass protests have erupted ever since demanding an end to his autocratic rule."
The people in Belarus are united and sing in solidarity for social change. Singing the traditional songs of peace and freedom is common in that part of the world. Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have large mass choral festivals inviting choirs from all over the world. In fact, a group of choristers from the Upper Valley sang in Estonia a few years ago.
Kids and Kin are thinking about nature, conservation and climate change. Here is where we publish their ideas, solutions, tips, poetry, musings, and all of the thoughts we think at this time in history.
